My Top 3

i was setting up this raid 1 on T2000 sunbox, to make it simpler i use console cable and use LOM.

i can get console access from remote site. it is 32 GB memory and 2 HDD.

partition layout

/ c0t0d0s0 5GB

/swap c0t0d0s1 16 GB

/export/home c0t0d0s3 29 GB

/usr 20 c0t0d0s4 20GB

i left 1 slice to be used for metadb (without this .. it will not work)

here we go with the step by by step flow:

1. make volume copy of 1st hd to 2nd hd

2. create the metadb (i use slice 5)

3. create virtual device for each slice

4. change the root partition to the new one

5. restart server

6. add virtual device from 2nd hd to associated mirror

7. edit /etc/vfstab

8. restart the server and … your raid 1 is installed
